# Presston AI MCP

> Connect AI clients to Boxpressd catalog, cigar recognition, billing, and personal cigar tools.

Presston AI MCP is Boxpressd’s Model Context Protocol server. It gives compatible AI clients a typed tool surface for catalog lookup, cigar-band recognition, billing visibility, and first-party personal cigar experiences.

| Environment | Streamable HTTP endpoint |
| - | - |
| Production | `https://mcp.boxpressd.io` |
| Development | `https://mcp-dev.boxpressd.io` |

The server uses stateless Streamable HTTP at the hostname root. Each request carries its authentication in HTTP headers. Credentials never appear in tool arguments or model-visible schemas.

## Service boundaries

The MCP server owns tool names, input schemas, transport authentication, and routing. The Boxpressd Developer API authenticates developer keys and authorizes paid operations. Boxpressd Payments owns balances, reservations, and credit settlement. The protected AI service performs cigar recognition.

This boundary means an AI client never receives the private AI service credential or a billing reservation token.

## Access levels

Developer-key clients can use catalog, billing, public details, venue search, and cigar matching tools.

Personal humidor, history, recommendation, and smoke-session tools require a validated delegated Boxpressd user session. That delegated flow is currently available to first-party Presston clients. Public Boxpressd OAuth consent for third-party agents is planned separately.
